ADN Capacity Building Education Tour.

In a bold step towards fostering self-sustainability and financial independence among its staff, the Archdiocese of Ndola organized a transformative entrepreneurship capacity-building education tour to Mbewe Farm in Mwange, Ndola. The tour, held yesterday, was spearheaded by the senior management and aimed at inspiring staff members to explore alternative avenues of wealth creation beyond their regular salaries. Led by the Vicar General, Very Rev. Fr. Lewis Mutachila, the diocesan team embarked on a journey to the farm owned and operated by Mr. and Mrs. Mbewe. Mr. Mbewe, a retired commando, and his industrious wife have turned their once modest landholding into a thriving agribusiness hub.
Upon arrival, the staff received a warm welcome and were taken on an extensive tour of the farm’s various projects. These included poultry farming, livestock rearing, and vegetable cultivation. The tour was guided by Mrs. Mbewe, whose energy, experience, and candidness inspired many. In a powerful session after the tour, Mrs. Mbewe shared her personal journey — from starting with virtually nothing to building a successful farming business. She emphasized the importance of discipline, perseverance, and patience in entrepreneurship. She openly spoke about the challenges and losses they’ve encountered along the way and the relentless determination required to keep moving forward. “There are moments of loss, and you will feel like giving up,” she said. “But you have to build with what’s within you. Success doesn’t come overnight.”
The visit came at a time when many workers are grappling with economic uncertainty and increasingly rely on salary advances to meet daily needs. The Archdiocese hopes that by exposing its employees to real-life success stories like the Mbewes’, they will be inspired to develop side ventures that can help improve their livelihoods and reduce dependency on their monthly income. This initiative aligns with the Archdiocese of Ndola’s mission as a faith-based organization to promote self-reliance among its workforce. The tour also served as a reminder that with the right mindset, commitment, and support, staff can turn simple ideas into income-generating enterprises. As the tour concluded, many staff members expressed a renewed sense of purpose and were deeply motivated by what they had witnessed.
