FMSA Sisters Celebrate Golden and Silver Jubilees.
On 2nd May 2026, Ndola Archbishop, Dr. Benjamin Phiri, celebrated a Jubilee Mass for seven sisters of the Franciscan Missionary Sisters of Assisi at Immaculate Conception Parish. The Mass was concelebrated by the Bishop of Mansa Diocese, Patrick Chisanga, who was present in support of the jubilarians, especially his biological sister, Sr. Theresa Chisanga, who was celebrating her Golden Jubilee (50 years of religious life). The celebration honored three sisters marking 50 years of religious life: Sr. Mary Veronica Zulu, Sr. Beatrice Sakala, and Sr. Theresa Chisanga. It also recognized four sisters celebrating their Silver Jubilee (25 years): Sr. Clara Mulenga, Sr. Reginah Katati Namumba, Sr. Ruth Ndhlovu, and Sr. Jacqueline Chewe. Notable in attendance were the Vicar General, Very Rev. Fr. Ephraim Mulenga Mapulanga; the Pastoral Director, Rev. Fr. Thomas Chunika; and the Provincial Minister of the Order of Friars Minor Conventual for Zambia and Malawi, Rev. Fr. Matthews Kasongo. Members of the Mansa Diocese senior management team were also present. Over 20 priests concelebrated the Mass, and the church was filled with religious sisters from various congregations, family members, and well-wishers. In his homily, Archbishop Phiri congratulated the sisters for their faithful service and encouraged them to remain focused on God as they continue their journey. He acknowledged that religious life is not easy and is often marked by both joys and challenges, but emphasized the importance of perseverance and fidelity to one’s calling. He urged the sisters to remain resolute in their vocation, to resist worldly distractions, and to seek the intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary as they continue their mission. Following the homily, the jubilarians renewed their religious vows in a moving and solemn moment. They also received a Papal Blessing from Pope Leo IV. The celebration concluded joyfully with beautiful singing from St. Maximillian Kolbe parish Choir.
