FMSA Sisters make Perpetual Vows.

St. Theresia’s Catholic Church in Ibenga was filled with joy and solemnity on Saturday, 20th September 2025, as two Franciscan Missionary Sisters of Assisi, Sr. Rosaria Katwamba Kapesa and Sr. Agnes Banda, made their perpetual profession of vows. The Eucharistic celebration was presided over by Archbishop Dr. Benjamin Phiri JCD, with clergy, religious, and the lay faithful present to witness this milestone in the lives of the two sisters. During his homily, Archbishop Phiri admonished the sisters to remain true to the vows they had professed, reminding them that religious life is a noble but demanding way of life. He emphasized that their vocation is not merely symbolic but a lifelong commitment to God and His people. The Archbishop further spoke on the significance of the religious habit, noting that it serves as a visible sign by which others identify them as women consecrated to God. He urged the newly professed sisters to remain prayerful, to frequently pray the rosary, and to continually reflect on their lives removing all influences and relationships that run contrary to their calling. Extending his message to all present, Archbishop Phiri encouraged both religious and lay faithful alike to live faithfully, striving always to serve God with integrity. Following the Mass, a lively reception took place, marked by meals, music, dance, and performances. The celebration concluded with the presentation of gifts to the newly professed sisters and the cutting of cakes presented to their parents and guardians.
