Blessing of St. Theresa Mission Hospital Chapel and Commissioning of Intensive care Unit.

On the 21st of March 2026, the Archbishop Dr. Benjamin Phiri JCD, accompanied by his entourage, Pastoral Director -Rev. Fr. Thomas Chunika, and the Archbishop’s Secretary – Rev. Fr. Nicodemus Mwewa, travelled to St. Theresa Mission Hospital for the blessing of the newly built chapel and the commissioning of the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). The day began with a warm welcome from Rev. Fr. Barnabas Kasonde – Parish Priest of St. Theresa Parish, and Sr. Annie Chiluba, Sister-in-Charge and other medical and political delegates. This was followed by the celebration of Holy Mass, during which the altar was solemnly blessed, and the new church building dedicated to the glory of God. After the Mass, several delegates, including representatives from the government and the Ministry of Health, delivered remarks, highlighting the importance of the new facilities in enhancing both spiritual care and medical services. The Archbishop then proceeded to bless and officially commission the Intensive Care Unit, marking a significant milestone in the hospital’s mission to provide quality healthcare. The day concluded with a beautiful luncheon for invited guests, bringing the celebration to a joyful and memorable close.
