Cathedral Celebrates the Solemnity of Christ the King.

Today, 25th November 2025, the Cathedral of Christ the King in Ndola gathered to celebrate the Solemnity of Christ the King, the feast that marks the end of the liturgical year and ushers the Church into a new one. The Mass was presided over by Archbishop Dr. Benjamin Phiri, who celebrated with the cathedral community and all the priests serving at the parish. In his homily, Archbishop Phiri highlighted the profound significance of this solemnity, reminding the faithful that it is a moment of renewal and recommitment. He emphasized that the feast invites every Christian to reaffirm their fidelity, loyalty, and commitment to Christ, acknowledging Him as King not only in words but through obedience to His teachings and His rule. He explained that without obedience to Christ’s Word and His precepts, one cannot claim to be a true follower, for Christ cannot reign in a heart that refuses His kingship. He encouraged the congregation to deeply reflect on their spiritual journey and to honestly assess whether, like St. Paul, they can say, “I have run my race” with faithfulness. At the end of the Mass, a special award ceremony was held to recognize various individuals for their dedicated service to the Cathedral. Among those honored were the youth and the Holy Childhood Association, acknowledged for their vibrant contribution to parish life. Following the liturgical celebration, a variety of activities and entertainment, are set to continue the joyful spirit of the feast day.
