CBU Catholic Student’s Mass

CBU Catholic Student’s Mass

On 18th January 2026, the Archbishop of the Archdiocese of Ndola, Most Rev. Dr. Benjamin Phiri, JCD, celebrated Holy Mass for Catholic students under the Catholic Students Association (CASC) at the Copperbelt University. He was warmly welcomed by the Chaplain, Rev. Fr. Noah Lungu SJ, alongside other clergy, a number of university lecturers, and the students who gathered in large numbers for the Eucharistic celebration. The Mass was vibrant and prayerful, characterised by joyful singing from the choir and ba Buomba, which added life and enthusiasm to the liturgy. During the Mass, Archbishop Phiri conferred the Sacrament of Confirmation on three candidates, encouraging them to live out their faith with courage, responsibility, and commitment. In his homily, the Archbishop emphasized that possessing good academic qualifications alone is not enough unless knowledge is translated into service that benefits society and the wider community. He urged students to nurture a strong and personal relationship with God, reminding them that faith goes beyond reciting prayers and must be understood, lived, and witnessed daily. Archbishop Phiri shared his desire to see a generation of young people who are highly disciplined, highly motivated, and deeply committed. He called on students to be learned youths grounded in faith, ready to evangelize in their respective fields and to make a positive and lasting impact wherever they are. The Mass ended beautifully, leaving both students and lecturers spiritually renewed and inspired to integrate faith, learning, and service in their academic and personal lives.
