Feast of Sts. Peter and Paul.

Feast of Sts. Peter and Paul.

Today, Archbishop Dr. Benjamin Phiri presided over a solemn Mass at the Cathedral of Christ the King to celebrate the Feast of Saints Peter and Paul, two of the most important figures in the early Church. The cathedral was filled with the faithful gathered to honor the lives and legacies of these apostles. In his homily, the Archbishop reflected on St. Peter as the rock upon which Christ built His Church, emphasizing the vital role of faith and leadership in the Church’s foundation. He spoke passionately about the mission of evangelization, reminding the congregation that like the first apostles, we have each been given time on earth to do God’s work. He urged believers to evangelize not only through words but more importantly through the witness of their lives. The Feast of Saints Peter and Paul, celebrated annually on June 29th, honors their martyrdom in Rome and their enduring contributions to the Christian faith. St. Peter, the first pope, represents unity and leadership, while St. Paul, the great missionary, symbolizes the Church’s universal mission. The celebration was a powerful reminder of the Church’s apostolic roots and the ongoing call to spread the Gospel with courage and love.
