Today, Archbishop Dr. Benjamin Phiri celebrated Holy Mass to elevate St. Francis Xavier, Fisenge Centre, under Immaculate Conception Parish, to the status of a sub-parish, officially renaming it St. Angela of Foligno Sub-Parish. The Archbishop was warmly welcomed by the Parish Priest, Rev. Fr. Alexander Chimpusa, OFM. Notable among those in attendance were the Vicar General, Very Rev. Fr. Lewis Mutachila, and the Minister Provincial of the Order of Friars Minor (OFM) for Zambia and Malawi, Rev. Fr. Mathews Kasongo, OFM, alongside clergy, religious, and the lay faithful. During the Mass, Archbishop Phiri expressed his joy at being able to elevate the centre to a sub-parish, thankingRev. Fr. Chimpusa OFM, his pastoral team, and the faithful for their dedication and hard work in meeting the requirements for sub-parish status. He reminded the congregation that beyond structures and titles, what truly matters is their Christian faith—how well they live it out and witness to the Gospel they profess. The Archbishop emphasized that a higher status comes with greater responsibility and urged the faithful to work even harder in strengthening their faith and building up the Church. He also appointed Rev. Fr. Isaac Chanda as the Priest-in-Charge of the newly established sub-parish. The church, filled to capacity, resonated with joyful singing and dancing by the stella, ba Buomba, and the choir ,making the celebration both prayerful and vibrant as the community marked this important moment in its journey of faith.
