Handmaids of Merciful love Sister- First Profession.
On 19th March 2026, Archbishop Dr. Benjamin Phiri celebrated Holy Mass at St. Maximillian Kolbe Parish, Mboya in Luanshya, to mark the first profession of Sr. Clementine Kibikula Nkembo of the Congregation of the Handmaids of Merciful Love. The celebration coincided with the Feast of St. Joseph, Husband of Mary, adding deeper spiritual significance to the occasion. The ceremony began with a warm welcome of the Archbishop by the Parish Priest, Rev. Fr. Patrick Mupula, together with the Handmaids of Merciful Love Sisters, other clergy, and the lay faithful who had gathered in large numbers. In his homily, Archbishop Phiri spoke on the faith required for one to fully give themselves to the service of the Lord. He emphasized that without true faith, one may appear Christian outwardly—through dress and attendance at church—yet still think and behave like a pagan. He encouraged both the religious and married couples to remain faithful to their vocations, stressing the importance of fidelity to the vows and commitments they have made. The Archbishop also cautioned against neglecting elderly parents, reminding the faithful that caring for them is a responsibility for every child. He warned against hypocrisy—appearing righteous in church while failing in essential duties at home. During the Mass, Sr. Clementine made her vows before Mother Maria Luisa Alvarez, General Councillor and General Secretary, in the presence of her family, the Congolese community on the Copperbelt, various religious congregations, and parishioners who had traveled to witness the occasion. The celebration concluded with a joyful luncheon for invited guests, and the day ended in a festive atmosphere filled with singing and dancing from the choir and Ba Buomba.
