Launch of Catholic Teachers Association.

Archbishop Dr. Benjamin Phiri, JCD today celebrated a thanksgiving Mass at the Cathedral of Christ the King in Ndola to thank God for the good results recorded in the 2024/2025 academic year and to officially launch the first-ever Catholic Teachers Association in the Archdiocese of Ndola. The event, organized by the Director of Social Projects and Programmes, Rev. Fr. Bernard Kapembwa, together with the Education Secretary, Sr. Odette Mwewa, drew teachers from Catholic primary and secondary schools, colleges, and universities across all ten deaneries of the Archdiocese. Teachers turned up in large numbers, giving the celebration a joyful and vibrant atmosphere. In his homily, Archbishop Phiri emphasized the critical role teachers play in shaping society, noting that education goes beyond academics. He called on teachers to be authentic role models, not only in their professional duties but also in their character, conduct, and manner of dressing. He urged them to transmit Christian values to learners and warned against vices such as drunkenness and other behaviors that undermine their witness. The Archbishop encouraged teachers to see their profession as a vocation, reminding them that they are called to impart faith alongside knowledge, helping to form learners who are morally upright and grounded in Christian principles. At the end of the Mass, Archbishop Phiri unveiled the official logo of the Catholic Teachers Association, marking a historic moment for Catholic educators in the Archdiocese. The launch was received with great enthusiasm, signaling a new chapter of unity, collaboration, and faith-filled service among Catholic teachers.
