Mass for the Departed Priests and Religious men and women.

Mass for the Departed Priests and Religious men and women.

Today, 8th November 2025, the Clergy, the religious and the lay-faith gathered at Sacred Heart Parish in Kitwe to celebrate a special memorial Mass in remembrance of all departed priests, religious men, and women who faithfully served the Church. The solemn and reflective celebration was led by the Vicar General, Very Rev. Fr. Lewis Mutachila, representing the Archbishop, Dr. Benjamin Phiri, JCD. This annual Mass is an important tradition in the Catholic Church, celebrated during the month of November — a period specially dedicated to praying for the souls of the departed. It is a time for the faithful to remember with gratitude those who have dedicated their lives to the service of God and His people through priestly and religious vocations. In his homily, Fr. Mutachila spoke on the importance of building meaningful relationships and being good stewards of God’s gifts and talents. He reminded the faithful that life is a gift meant to be shared through service, humility, and love for one another. He emphasized that the departed clergy and religious we remember today lived their call faithfully by using their God-given talents to serve the Church and humanity. Fr. Mutachila urged all present to follow their example — to nurture relationships that bring unity, peace, and love, and to make use of their talents in a way that glorifies God. The Mass concluded with prayers for the repose of the souls of all departed priests and religious, whose legacy continues to inspire the living Church.
