Newly elevated Sub-parish , St. John Paul II.
On 29th November 2025, the community of St. Paul, an outstation of St. Peter Mushili Parish, celebrated a historic moment as Archbishop Dr. Benjamin Phiri JCD presided over a special Mass to officially elevate it to sub-parish status. The faithful turned out in great numbers, filled with excitement and pride. The Archbishop was warmly welcomed by Parish Priest, Rev. Fr. Christopher Mwansa, and his assistant, Rev. Fr. Ackim Musenge. At the beginning of Mass, representatives of St. Paul formally presented their request for elevation. After listening attentively, the Archbishop issued the official declaration, elevating the outstation to sub-parish status and give it a new name, St. John Paul II Sub-Parish. This marked a new and inspiring chapter in the community’s spiritual journey. The Mass proceeded with vibrant singing and dancing, reflecting the parishioners’ joy and gratitude. In his homily, Archbishop Phiri reminded the newly established St. John Paul II Sub-Parish of the responsibilities that come with this recognition. He emphasized the importance of nurturing the faith of the young, noting the strong presence of youth and Holy Childhood in the community. He urged them to remain united, refusing any form of division, especially those rooted in politics. He encouraged the faithful to safeguard the Catholic faith, uphold true servant leadership, and seek not personal gain but ways to serve God and His Church. He further challenged them to “outdo one another in doing good,” especially in supporting the poor. After Mass, the Archbishop blessed the newly built administration block. He also graciously blessed numerous children who lined up to receive his blessing. A touching moment unfolded at the beginning when a couple presented their newborn son, whom they named Benjamin in honour of the Archbishop. The Archbishop took time during the mass to blessed the baby and his parents, marking a memorable and heartfelt moment.
