Pastoral Fund 2026

Pastoral Fund 2026

Theme: “One in Christ, United in the Evangelisation Mission of the Church” Saturday, 26 September 2026, was a day of thanksgiving and celebration as the Catholic Men’s Organisation of the Archdiocese of Ndola presented K3,949,691.50 towards the Pastoral Fund to Archbishop Dr. Benjamin Phiri, JCD. The celebration, held at St. John’s Convent School in Kitwe, brought together Catholic men from across the Archdiocese, alongside women, clergy and other faithful. The event began with Holy Mass celebrated by Archbishop Phiri. In his homily, the Archbishop addressed the men in their role as fathers and heads of their families, calling on them to take an active role in passing on the Catholic faith to their children. He reminded the men that while children may eventually forget many of the material things their parents provide, the faith they are taught can remain with them throughout their lives. He urged fathers to lead their families by example, reminding them that children learn not only from what they are told, but also from what they see. Archbishop Phiri also cautioned parents against allowing social media to become the primary influence in raising their children, stressing the importance of parents being present and intentional in the formation of their families. In a particularly touching moment, the Archbishop acknowledged the burdens that many men carry silently, especially within cultures where men are often expected not to cry or show vulnerability. He recognised that behind the strength many men display are struggles and pain that are sometimes carried in silence. Standing before the men not only as their shepherd but also as a father, Archbishop Phiri invited them to place their hands on their chests as he prayed and pronounced a blessing over them. The moment became one of deep reflection and prayer for the men present. Following the Mass, the Pastoral Fund presentation and awards ceremony took place, with the Catholic Men’s Organisation presenting K3,949,691.50 to the Archbishop. Nkana Deanery was recognised as the overall best-performing deanery, while Our Lady of Africa Parish was named the overall best parish. The celebration concluded joyfully, with praise given for the excellent organisation of the event and beautiful music from the Sacred Heart Men’s Choir, adding to the spirit of fellowship and thanksgiving. The gathering served as both a celebration of generosity and a reminder of the important role Catholic men play in strengthening families, nurturing faith and participating actively in the evangelising mission of the Church.
