Today, 12th July 2025, Archbishop Dr. Benjamin Phiri presided over a special Communicators’ Pilgrimage Mass at the Cathedral of Christ the King in Ndola, bringing together media professionals and Catholic communicators from across the Archdiocese. The event began with a symbolic pilgrimage procession from Green Village, with participants entering the Cathedral through the Jubilee Doors of Hope, signifying renewal and mission. The Mass was attended by media representatives from various institutions including ZNBC, Radio Icengelo, and Mission Press, as well as social media content creators, reporters, editors, and technical staff who contribute daily to informing and inspiring society. The event was organized and emceed by the Director of Social Programmes , Rev. Fr. Bernard Kapembwa, whose leadership and coordination ensured that the day flowed smoothly and meaningfully. Notable in attendance were the Vicar General, Very Rev. Fr. Lewis Mutachila, Radio Icengelo CEO, Rev. Fr. Chalwe Chonde, Former ZCCB Communications Director, Rev. Fr. Winfield Kunda, and Mission Press Director, Rev. Fr. Anthony Salangeta. In his homily, Archbishop Phiri encouraged the communicators to be faithful stewards of truth, urging them to carry out their responsibilities with integrity and purpose. He reminded them that they hold a powerful platform not because they are more important than others but through the grace of God, and therefore must serve with humility and sincerity. He warned against the temptation to manipulate stories for attention or sensationalism and stressed the importance of aligning their work with Christian values that promote hope, truth, and dignity. At the conclusion of the Mass, the Archbishop presented certificates of recognition to various media practitioners who have made significant contributions to Catholic media within the Archdiocese ranging from producers, editors, graphic designers, and news reporters, to social media creators and news anchors. The celebration served as a powerful reminder of the Church’s mission to evangelize through modern communication, and the responsibility of media professionals to be voices of hope in today’s world.
