St . Joseph Mukasa Parish 50 Years Jubilee.
On 13th June 2026, St. Joseph Mukasa Catholic Church celebrated its Golden Jubilee, marking 50 years of faith, growth, and service to the people of God. The celebrations were highlighted by a Holy Mass presided over by Rt. Rev. Charles Kasonde, Bishop of Solwezi Diocese, and concelebrated by Rt. Rev. Patrick Chisanga, Bishop of Mansa Diocese, and the Vicar General of the Archdiocese of Ndola, Very Rev. Fr. Ephraim Mulenga Mapulanga, who represented His Grace, Most Rev. Dr. Benjamin Phiri, JCD, Archbishop of Ndola. The bishops and clergy were warmly welcomed by the Parish Priest, Rev. Fr. Simon Kunda, and his assistant, Rev. Fr. Henry Tyola. Due to the large number of faithful in attendance, the Mass was held outdoors, creating a vibrant atmosphere filled with prayer, thanksgiving, and joyful celebration. Priests, religious sisters, former seminarians, and parishioners from across the Archdiocese gathered to celebrate the milestone, especially those who had served at the parish over the years. The occasion provided an opportunity to reflect on the parish’s rich history and the many blessings God has bestowed upon the community. In his homily, Bishop Kasonde called on the faithful to emulate the life of Saint Joseph Mukasa, one of the Uganda Martyrs, who remained steadfast in his faith even unto death. He encouraged Christians to remain resolute in following Christ, especially during times of difficulty and trial, reminding them that true faith perseveres regardless of circumstances. During the Mass, the Sacrament of Confirmation was also administered to candidates, adding to the joy of the celebration. Following the Eucharistic celebration, the faithful gathered for a sumptuous luncheon, after which the festivities continued with music, traditional dances, band performances, and other forms of entertainment. The Golden Jubilee celebrations concluded in a spirit of gratitude and joy, leaving lasting memories for all who attended and marking a significant chapter in the history of St. Joseph Mukasa Parish.
