St. Kizito Parish official opening.
The Sixth Sunday of Easter was a day of great joy and celebration in Lubuto, Ndola, as Most Rev. Dr. Benjamin Phiri, Archbishop of the Archdiocese of Ndola, blessed and officially opened the newly renovated church building at St. Kizito Parish. The event was nothing short of vibrant. The church was packed to capacity, with many faithful gathered outside, joyfully participating in the Mass through large speakers. The air was filled with song, drumbeats, and jubilation as parishioners sang and danced in celebration. The Stella girls and Buomba dancers led traditional praise dances, adding rich cultural color to the occasion. The celebration marked the culmination of over two years of hard work under the leadership of Dean and Parish Priest – Rev. Fr. Raphael Chanda. The old church had been demolished to make way for the new, more spacious building. During construction, parishioners worshipped at Holy Cross Parish in Kabushi. The Mass was attended by a large number of clergy and religious, including the Vicar General- Very Rev. Fr. Lewis Mutachila, the Pastoral Director- Rev. Fr. Ephraim Mulenga, and priests originally from St. Kizito Parish who traveled from across Zambia and as far as South Africa to show their support. Archbishop Phiri presided over the Eucharistic celebration and consecrated the new church building. During his homily, Archbishop Phiri delivered a powerful message on the themes of conversion and true holiness. He reminded the faithful that the building they were dedicating was not merely a structure, but a holy sanctuary set apart for the worship of the living God. He challenged the congregation to undergo inner conversion—to move away from sin and embrace a life of grace. He emphasized that holiness is not reserved for the clergy or religious alone, but a calling for every baptized believer. He urged parishioners to become witnesses of the Gospel by allowing Christ to transform their hearts, homes, and communities. The Archbishop encouraged all present to live lives of integrity, love, and prayer, making the new church a true reflection of the faith they profess. The vibrant celebration reflected the deep faith, joy, and unity of a community determined to honor God with a beautiful and sacred place of worship.
