St. Michael’s Parish Pastoral Visit
The Catholic community of St. Michael’s Parish in Mufulira joyfully welcomed Most Rev. Dr. Benjamin Phiri, JCD, Archbishop of Ndola, during his pastoral visit on 16th November 2025. The parish priest, Rev. Fr. Hargreaves Chanda, and the faithful received the Archbishop with great warmth and reverence, marking the beginning of a deeply spiritual and memorable celebration. During the Eucharistic celebration, the Archbishop presided over several important sacramental and pastoral activities that highlighted the growth and vibrancy of the parish. He blessed the newly constructed altar, a significant milestone for the parish community, symbolizing renewed commitment to worship in dignity and reverence. A total of 56 candidates were confirmed, receiving the fullness of the Holy Spirit in the presence of their families, friends, and the parish community. The Archbishop also commissioned new lectors and extraordinary ministers of Holy Communion, entrusting them with essential roles in the life of the Church. In addition to these sacred commissions, he officially opened and commissioned a newly built ablution block, a practical but vital facility that enhances the parish’s hospitality and care for its members. In his homily, Archbishop Phiri delivered a powerful message centered on conversion and authentic Christian living. He urged the faithful to reflect deeply on their spiritual lives, emphasizing that true discipleship is shown through daily actions rooted in love, humility, and integrity. He reminded them that conversion is not a one-time event, but a continuous journey of aligning one’s life with the teachings of Christ. The pastoral visit concluded with joy, gratitude, and renewed spiritual energy as the parish celebrated these significant milestones in faith and community life.
