CELEBRATION OF THE DAY FOR THE ELDERLY AND THE AGED, AND LAUNCHING OF 50 YEARS OF SMALL CHRISTIAN COMMUNITIES IN AMECEA REGION

Today, 22nd July 2023, the Bishop of Catholic Diocese of Ndola Rt. Rev. Dr Benjamin Phiri celebrated Mass for the elderly, and the aged under the theme “HIS MERCY IS FROM AGE TO AGE “(Luke 1:50) the day is to be celebrated in parishes on the 23rd July 2023.During this celebration, the Bishop honored 21 Priests and Religious sisters for their various contribution to the Diocese. Among them were;

1. Rev Fr. Gervance Mukuka –Long and outstanding service especially in the healing
ministry.
2. Fr. Edward Mumbi – For rendering unwavering service to the Church (long and
outstanding service)

DOMINICAN (SRS)
1. Sr. Laetifica Hienerwadel – Long and outstanding service especially through education and
findraising.
2. Sr. Philomena Schwegmann -Long and outstanding service especially in charity work.
3. Sr. Constantia Treppe, OP – For rendering Long and outstanding service especially in the
publication of Speak Out Magazine.

FRANCISCAN MISSIONARY SISTRS OF ASSISI (AT FRANCIS PROVILE).
1. Scholastica Chirwa-First Zambia sister in the institute.
2. Sr. Josephine Mulenga-The first delegates in the province.

During the same Eucharist celebration, the bishop launched the celebration of 50 years of existence of small Christian communities in the AMECEA REGION
This celebration will run from July 2023 to July 2024.all the praises are expected to launch this celebration on the 19 of August, 2023, with various activities. This period the small Christian communities have been encouraged to intensify biblical studies as a way of deepening their faith.
