Blessing and erection of St. John Bosco Church.
On 14th May 2025, history was made in Chingola Deanery as Musenge Center, once an outstation of Sts. Peter and Paul Parish, was officially erected as a full parish under the name St. John Bosco Catholic Church. The celebration was led by Most Rev. Dr. Benjamin Phiri, JCD, Archbishop of Ndola, who also celebrated the dedication Mass and installed Rev. Fr. David Njolo as the first parish priest, assisted by three Salesian priests. The Salesians of Don Bosco were entrusted with the outstation 11 months ago, and in less than a year, they have constructed a beautiful and modern church building that now serves as the 9th parish in Chingola Deanery. The archbishop was warmly welcomed by Rev. Fr. Michael Kazembe Mbandama, SDB, Provincial for the Salesians of Don Bosco in Zambia, Malawi, Zimbabwe and Namibia (ZMB), together with the Salesian priests. The Archbishop also came with his entourage, the Vicar General – Very Rev. Fr. Lewis Mutachila and the Pastoral Director – Rev. Fr. Ephraim Mulenga. The Salesian community and Priests from across the deanery and beyond, gathered in solidarity. The celebration began with the official ribbon cutting and opening of the church building, followed by the solemn Mass. During the liturgy, the church was blessed with holy water, the walls anointed with holy oil, the altar consecrated, and the tabernacle blessed, marking it as a sacred place for worship. At the end of the Mass, Fr. David Njolo made the Oath of Fidelity, the Declaration of Faith, and other required vows before being formally installed as parish priest. The event marked a joyful milestone for the faithful in Musenge and the Archdiocese at large.
