Christmas Vigil Mass
On 24th December 2022, the Cathedral of Christ the King community Joined the Universal Catholic Church to celebrate Christmas Vigil Mass. It was celebrated by the Bishop of Ndola Diocese – Rt. Rev. Dr. Benjamin Phiri JCD. During this Vigil Mass, the faithful participated in an “anticipated celebration” of the Nativity of the Lord prior to midnight.
The Christmas Vigil Mass is celebrated on December 24, and it is often confused with the Christmas Midnight Mass. In this Vigil Mass, we are coming out of Advent to enter Christmas, but we are still in a time of waiting and anticipation. During this liturgical celebration, we hear, once again, the readings that were read on the last Sunday of Advent. These readings concentrate on the announcement of the coming of our Lord, and one last time, the Gospel prepares us for the big day (Christmas Day). Below are a few highlights.
