Easter Sunday mass

Easter Sunday mass

This year’s Easter Sunday Mass was joyfully celebrated at St. Paul the Apostle Church, an outstation of St. Peter the Apostle Parish in Mushili, and was led by Archbishop Dr. Benjamin Phiri, JCD. He was warmly welcomed by Parish Priest Rev. Fr. Christopher Mwansa and Assistant Parish Priest Rev. Fr. Ackhim Musenge. Easter Sunday is the most important day in the Christian calendar, commemorating the resurrection of Jesus Christ and celebrating the victory of life over death. It is a day of great hope, renewal, and rejoicing for the faithful. In his homily, Archbishop Phiri posed the question: “The Lord has risen, what next?” He warned against treating Easter as just another event that passes by until the next Lenten season. Instead, he emphasized that the resurrection calls for true conversion of heart. He encouraged the faithful to live out their Christian values daily and to hold fast to their faith with commitment. He also discouraged going for confession simply out of habit or routine, but rather with a sincere heart ready for transformation and change. During the Mass, 15 candidates were confirmed by the Archbishop. In a special moment, the tabernacle was blessed, and the Blessed Sacrament was solemnly placed within it, marking a milestone for the outstation community. The Mass ended in a spirit of joy and celebration, as the faithful embraced the message of hope and new life brought by the resurrection of Christ.
