GOOD FRIDAY SERVICE

GOOD FRIDAY SERVICE

Today, the Cathedral of Christ the King in Ndola was filled with deep reverence as the faithful gathered for the Good Friday service, led by Archbishop Dr. Benjamin Phiri, JCD. Good Friday, the most solemn day in the Christian calendar, commemorates the suffering and death of Jesus Christ on the Cross for the salvation of humanity. During his homily, Archbishop Phiri reflected on the painful and humiliating nature of Jesus’ crucifixion, reminding all present of the great sacrifice Christ made out of love. He emphasized that many continue to crucify Jesus today through their actions, choices, and sins. He encouraged the congregation to turn back to God, noting that it is never too late to seek His mercy and that true life comes only from Him. The Archbishop also gave a strong warning against hypocrisy and intentional rejection of Jesus, stating that although God is merciful, judgment will surely come for those who refuse to repent. The service concluded with the Veneration of the Cross, leaving the faithful with a powerful reminder of Christ’s love and a renewed call to live lives of repentance, faith, and integrity.
