Good Shepherd Sunday

Good Shepherd Sunday

Today, on April 21, 2024, the Catholic faithful gathered to celebrate the Feast of the Good Shepherd, led by the revered Rt. Rev. Dr. Benjamin Phiri, Bishop of Ndola Diocese. This feast holds profound significance, highlighting Christ as the ultimate shepherd who guides and cares for His flock with unwavering love and compassion. During the Mass, Bishop Phiri emphasized the importance of Christ as the Good Shepherd, drawing attention to His sacrificial love and selfless devotion to His sheep. He encouraged the congregation to reflect on their own roles as followers of Christ and to strive to emulate His example of humble service and leadership. In his homily, Bishop Phiri spoke passionately about the call to various vocations within the Church, urging those discerning their paths to answer with courage and faith. He emphasized the responsibility of all leaders to emulate the Good Shepherd by guiding and protecting those entrusted to their care. However, he cautioned against complacency, urging leaders to remain rooted in prayer and connected to Christ to avoid leading others astray. As the faithful departed, they carried with them a renewed sense of purpose and commitment to following Christ, the Good Shepherd. Bishop Phiri’s words served as a reminder of the profound love and guidance offered by Jesus Christ to all who seek His care and protection.
