Mariapolis 2026

On 16th April 2026, the Archbishop of Ndola, Most Rev. Dr. Benjamin Phiri, celebrated Mass at St. Francis Catholic Church together with members of the Focolare Movement during Mariapolis 2026 under the Theme: “Living closeness through aspects of life.” Mariapolis is a spiritual retreat organized by the Focolare Movement that brings together priests, religious, and lay faithful to deepen their relationship with God and to live out the Gospel through unity, love, and community life. It emphasizes building strong Christian relationships, fostering peace, and nurturing a spirituality of communion. The ongoing Mariapolis 2026 retreat is taking place from 15th to 19th April 2026. The Archbishop was warmly welcomed by the Parish Priest, Rev. Fr. Andrew Mwale, and his assistant, Rev. Fr. Mariusz Jaskot, alongside members of the Focolare Movement, including Rev. Fr. Christopher Chowa and Rev. Fr. Sydney Chibuye, OFM Conv, together with the gathered lay faithful. The celebration of the Holy Mass was lively and uplifting, enriched by beautiful singing from the youth choir. In his homily, Archbishop Phiri called on the faithful to become true mirrors of Christ by loving one another and showing kindness in their daily lives. He placed special emphasis on the youth, encouraging them to take time to know God, to sacrifice their lives for Him, and to walk closely with Jesus Christ. He further urged them to nurture an intimate relationship with Christ, one that is reflected in the way they live their daily lives and interact with others. After Mass, the Archbishop took time to interact with members of the movement and the faithful, creating a warm and engaging atmosphere.
