Archbishop Dr. Benjamin Phiri, JCD, celebrated Mass with members of the Nazareth Lay Group at St. Matthias Mulumba Parish on Saturday, 12 September 2026, in what marked the group’s first official meeting with the Archbishop. The Archbishop was warmly welcomed by the Parish Priest, Rev. Fr. Alex Shabasefu, who expressed joy at having the Archbishop celebrate with the members of the lay group. The Mass was celebrated in a joyful and colourful atmosphere, with the church filled to capacity as members of the Nazareth Lay Group gathered for the occasion. The celebration was further enlivened by vibrant singing and dancing, with the Ba Buomba and Ba Stella groups adding colour and energy to the liturgy. The gathering provided an opportunity for the Nazareth Lay Group to formally meet and celebrate the Eucharist with their Archbishop, strengthening their sense of belonging and communion with the wider Archdiocese. The beautiful celebration concluded in an atmosphere of joy and thanksgiving, with the faithful expressing their appreciation for the Archbishop’s presence among them.
