Baptistine Sisters Celebrate 75 years Jubilee.
Today, 7th October 2023, the congregation of Sisters of John the Baptist celebrated 75 years of existence. The celebration began with mass celebrated by the Bishop of Ndola Diocese – Rt. Rev. Dr. Benjamin Phiri and concelebrated by Bishop Edwin Mulandu of Mpika Diocese, Bishop George Lungu of Chipata Diocese, Monsignor Abel Toglo Secretary to the Nuncio, His Excellency Archbishop Gian Luca Perici, ZCCB Secretary General- Rev. Fr. Francis Mukosa, Vicar general- Very Rev.Fr. Lewis Mutachila, the Vicar General of Solwezi Diocese- Very Rev. Fr. Dr. Albert Sakala and Clergy from across the Country.
During this Mass, five sister of St. John the Baptist made their perpetual Vows. Namely; Sr. Caty kameni, Sr. Catherine Mafuta, Sr. Maria Nangoma, Sr. Gertrude Furahisha and Sr. Emma Chikhasu. Their vows were made to their Superior General- Sr. Lina Pantano who had travel from Italy for this event.
In his homily, Bishop Dr. Phiri, congratulated the sisters for the work that they had done and the achievements they have made in the last 75 year of divine Providence. He also encouraged the sisters that made their final vows to remain resolved in their decisions and remain faithful to their vows.
After Mass, the Bishop Dr. Phiri and all Bishops and Clergy present took time to bless the statue of John the Baptist. After which, it was succeeded by a special luncheon for invited guests after which various activities and entertainments followed.
The day ended joyfully with a final blessing from Bishop Dr. Phiri. Below are a few highlights.
