St. Michael and Noah Parish Opens new church building

On 16th December 2023, St. Michael and Noah Parish celebrated the grand opening and consecration of their new church building, marking a momentous occasion for the devoted community. The sacred event was graced by the presence of Rt. Rev. Dr. Benjamin Phiri JCD, the presiding Bishop of Ndola Diocese. With profound solemnity, the Bishop consecrated the altar by pouring holy oil, symbolizing the sanctification of the sacred space, followed by the ritualistic burning of incense.

Assisting in this sacred endeavor was the revered Bishop of the Archdiocese of Kasama, Rt. Rev. Patrick Chisanga, who had a sentimental connection to the parish from his early days as a deacon. Among the distinguished guests were Fr. O’Regan Chanshi, Fr. Thomas Makandwe, and Fr. Francis Mwansa Mufwaya. Additionally, three religious sisters, originally from the parish, graced the occasion, embodying a deep connection to their spiritual roots.

During his homily, Bishop Phiri congratulated the congregants for their admirable work in constructing the house of the Lord. However, he passionately urged them to focus on building the temple of the Holy Spirit within themselves, emphasizing the need to purify their souls for God’s dwelling. The congregation listened attentively to his wise words, recognizing the spiritual significance of the newly consecrated space.

The Church was built 90% of it by the local parishioners. This collaborative effort showcased the community’s dedication and commitment to creating a sacred haven for worship, symbolizing the strength of their faith and unity. It was in this vein that certificates at the end of Mass were awarded to different lay- groups. Organisations and committees for their dedication and hard work.
