Epiphany Sunday Mass.
Yesterday, 4th January, the Archbishop celebrated Epiphany Sunday Mass at St. Antonio Fasani Parish in Pamodzi. He was warmly welcomed by the Parish Priest, Rev. Fr. Charles Tembo, and the Assistant Parish Priest, Rev. Fr. George Kaoma, together with the joyful parish community. In his homily, the Archbishop reflected on the meaning of the Epiphany and challenged the faithful to become true light in a dark world. He observed that many Christians have heard countless sermons yet remain unchanged, stressing that genuine faith must lead to inner conversion. He called on the faithful to move beyond routine religious practice and allow Christ to truly transform their hearts and lives. The Archbishop emphasized that while people often invest much effort in looking good outwardly, true beauty lies within. He encouraged the faithful to work hard at reflecting Jesus from the inside, through humility, love, and righteous living. Such inner transformation, he said, is what enables Christians to shine as authentic witnesses of Christ in society. He also spoke about the innocence and purity of children, noting that their hearts are often free and sincere, unlike adult hearts which are frequently crowded with grudges, bitterness, and worldly concerns. The Archbishop urged the congregation to let go of resentment, forgive one another, and create space in their hearts for God to dwell. During the Eucharistic celebration, the Archbishop conferred the Sacrament of Confirmation on 38 candidates, encouraging them to live out their faith courageously and to bear witness to Christ in their daily lives. At the end of Mass, he blessed a new statue of St. Antonio Fasani, a gift from the Catholic Men’s League of the parish, commending the men for their dedication and contribution to the life of the parish. The Epiphany celebration was marked by prayer, reflection, and renewed commitment, as the faithful were encouraged to rediscover their Christian calling and shine as light in the world.
