New Years Day Mass 2026.
Today, New Year’s Day 2026, the Solemnity of Mary, Mother of God, the Vicar General, Very Rev. Fr. Lewis Mutachila, celebrated Holy Mass at the Cathedral of Christ the King. In his homily, Fr. Mutachila reflected on the example of the Blessed Virgin Mary, who accepted the will of God with faith and courage despite the consequences it brought. He encouraged the faithful, at the beginning of the New Year, to emulate Mary’s openness and trust in God, allowing His will to guide their lives in all circumstances. The Vicar General called on the congregation to forgive one another and to become true peacemakers in their families, communities, and the nation at large. He made a special appeal for peace and reconciliation as the country enters an election year, urging the faithful to reject division, hatred, and violence, and instead to promote dialogue, understanding, and unity. Fr. Mutachila further encouraged the faithful to believe firmly in the love of God and to stand strong in their faith. He reminded them that regardless of the challenges that may arise in life, God remains faithful and present with His people. With confidence in God’s promises, he assured the congregation that they are blessed and that the year 2026 is indeed a blessed year. The Mass concluded with a spirit of hope and renewed commitment, as the faithful entrusted the New Year to the intercession of Mary, Mother of God, praying for peace, faith, and God’s continued guidance throughout 2026.
