St. Anna Celebrates 50 years Jubilee Anniversary.
On 6th August 2025, the St. Anna Catholic Women’s Lay Group marked its Golden Jubilee, celebrating 50 years of existence and service in Zambia. The celebrations began with a solemn pilgrimage from Chingola Municipal Council to Don Bosco School under the theme “Pilgrims of Hope.” Hundreds of women, joined by clergy and lay faithful, walked together in prayer and song, symbolizing their enduring journey of faith. The day culminated in a colourful outdoor Mass, presided over by His Grace, Archbishop Dr. Benjamin Phiri JCD, and concelebrated by Pastoral Director Rev. Fr. Ephraim Mulenga alongside other priests. The atmosphere was joyful and vibrant, with liturgical music provided by an all-men’s choir from Sacred Heart Parish in Kitwe, whose beautiful singing uplifted the celebration. In his homily, Archbishop Phiri reflected on the vital role of mothers within the home, emphasizing their responsibility in the instruction and upbringing of their children. He urged the women to emulate St. Anna, mother of the Blessed Virgin Mary, who faithfully guided her daughter in faith and virtue. He warned that in today’s age of modernization, the family unit is under attack, and Catholic women must take seriously their role in safeguarding and nurturing Christian values within the home. The Archbishop further reminded the women that true holiness goes beyond uniforms and church gatherings. He invited them to examine their lives deeply and ask whether they are truly pleasing to God in their daily conduct. Only through authentic conversion, he stressed, can evangelization bear lasting fruit. The Jubilee concluded with the awarding of certificates and gifts to deserving women from all ten deaneries who had gathered for this historic celebration, marking a milestone of faith and dedication.
