Today, 26th February 2020, Catholics the world over are celebrating Ash Wednesday. This is one of the most popular and important holy days in the liturgical calendar. Ash Wednesday denotes the beginning of Lent, a period of 40 days of fasting, prayer and alms-giving. Christians at the Cathedral of Christ the King in Ndola gathered together with the universal church to celebrate this important Mass. Mass was celebrated by The Diocesan Finance Manager -Rev. Fr. Augustine Mumba and co-celebrated by The Diocesan Liturgical Manager- Rev. Fr. Israel Maliseni. During Mass the Priests administered ashes on the forehead of the lay faithful as a visible symbol of penance. Below are a some highlights.
