Jubilee Pilgrimage for Security and Defense Wings.
The Cathedral of Christ the King came alive today, 13th August 2025, as Archbishop Dr. Benjamin Phiri JCD celebrated the Jubilee of Hope Pilgrimage Mass for serving and retired personnel from the Zambia Army, Zambia Air Force (ZAF), Zambia National Service (ZNS), Zambia Correctional Service, Zambia Police Service, other security wings, and their civilian counterparts. The celebration began with a procession from Green Village to the Cathedral, bringing together men and women in uniform alongside members of the public. The event was organized by Lieutenant Colonel Rev. Fr. Mbewe and drew notable attendees, including the Vicar General- Very Rev. Fr. Lewis Mutachila, Rev. Fr. Katongo Nkole– Biblical Manager, Rev. Fr. Mukuka- the Archdiocesan Exorcist, who was also marking his 47th priestly anniversary, Rev. Fr. Mukena and Rev. Fr. Kabamba. In his homily, Archbishop Phiri shared personal experiences working with the defense and security wings, commending them for their exemplary service particularly the Zambia Army’s outstanding record in peacekeeping missions abroad. He urged them to remain men and women of integrity, to be worthy of the trust placed in them, and to resist exploitation or corrupt influences. The celebration was vibrant and deeply moving, with the St. Antonio Fasani Parish Choir delivering exceptional singing that uplifted the liturgy. The day ended in a spirit of joy, unity, and renewed commitment to service, both to God and to the nation.
