MASS FOR LEGION OF MARY LAY-GROUP
Today, Ndola Archbishop, Dr. Benjamin Phiri, JCD, celebrated Mass at the Cathedral of Christ the King together with members of the Legion of Mary. Members of the movement travelled from all ten deaneries of the Archdiocese, filling the Cathedral to capacity for the vibrant and prayerful celebration. The beautiful Mass was marked by lively participation from the faithful and a strong spirit of devotion. In his homily, Archbishop Phiri reflected on the origins of devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary and the Holy Rosary. He spoke on the importance of the Rosary as a powerful spiritual weapon in the fight against evil and darkness in the world, as well as an instrument for the conversion of souls. He praised the Legion of Mary for its important role within the Church as a dedicated prayer movement and encouraged all Catholics to cultivate the habit of praying the Rosary daily. He emphasized that sincerely walking with Mother Mary is a sure path that leads believers closer to Christ and toward salvation. The Archbishop also dedicated the Mass to praying for the repose of the soul of the late Archbishop Telesphore George Mpundu, who passed away yesterday. He prayed that the Lord may welcome him for the faithful work he accomplished during his lifetime and grant him mercy for any shortcomings. Notably in attendance were the Vicar General, Very Rev. Fr. Ephraim Mulenga Mapulanga; the Pastoral Director, Rev. Fr. Thomas Chunika; and the Liturgical Manager, Rev. Fr. Bernard Lubumba. After Mass, the Archbishop took time to take photographs with representatives from the different deaneries. The celebration concluded beautifully in an atmosphere of prayer and unity.
