Pope John 23 Association celebrates Founders 100th Anniversary.

Today, 23rd August 2025, the Cathedral of Christ the King in Ndola was filled with joy and thanksgiving as the Apostolic Nuncio to Zambia and Malawi, Archbishop Gian Luca Perici, presided over the Holy Mass in celebration of the 100th birthday of its founder, the late Don Oreste Benzi. The Mass, which drew clergy, religious, and members of the faithful from across the Archdiocese of Ndola, was a profound moment of reflection on the mission and charism of the Association, known for its commitment to serving the marginalized and vulnerable. Archbishop Dr. Benjamin Phiri, JCD, concelebrated alongside several priests, while members of the Association participated actively in the liturgy. In his homily, Archbishop Perici extended warm congratulations to the Association for its steadfast work over the decades, highlighting its dedication to living out the Gospel through concrete acts of love and service. He reminded the faithful that humility is the key to truly reaching the vulnerable and less privileged in society, stressing that service rooted in humility reflects the very heart of Christ. The celebration concluded with joyful hymns and thanksgiving with beautiful singing of the Choir, marking a historic milestone for the Association Pope John XXIII in Zambia. After Mass a presentation on Don Oreste Benzi was given and a luncheon prepared for all invited guests.
